People ask me all the time if they should hire a travel agent. My quick and simple answer is, yes. In the current COVID climate, there are so many restrictions and policies to sift through. Difficult for even the most seasoned agent. Managing these new guidelines can be extremely daunting. Fortunately, at little to no cost, you can have the support you need to plan a safe, fun and amazing vacation. As you are considering using a travel agent, keep these four things in mind.
Knowledge. You can benefit from their destination expertise. Instead of spending hours researching multiple websites, you have one point of contact to answer all of your questions.
Confidence. Be assured that all details are covered. Travel has many components big and small. You will not have to worry about missing any of them! Transportation, tickets, transfers, dining, every detail will be taken care of.
Navigation. Travel Agents sift through the vast array of options available quickly and easily after asking you some qualifying questions. They also are aware of the best possible deals, and I personally apply discounts to existing reservations if/when they become available.
Advocacy. If any issues arise, your agent will be there to help. Nobody anticipates a problem, but things can and do happen. Will I pay more if I book through an agent?
Travel agents are paid a commission by the suppliers they book through. The commission is built into the supplier’s pricing, so you’re paying for a travel agent regardless of how/where you book. Booking directly leaves those monies with the company, and you actually lose value by not having the help and direction of your own personal travel designer. Why not use a service you’re paying for anyway? Service fees may apply to non-commissionable travel and will be stated in advance.
With all the booking engines and travel websites out there, you could surely book your own vacation. But why would you want to? Having your own personal travel agent is a luxury that everyone can afford. And should.
